I have a 1942 military chevrolet 1.5ton. It has a 1955-57 235cid and 4 speed non syncro trans. I would like to update to a syncro trans but without modifications to the truck. Is there a syncro trans with the same bolt patterns/linkages that will bolt up.

A 1948-54 4 speed transmission and bell housing should do the trick.

Just to add a suggestion. I believe there is a mount on the older bell housing for the pedal pivot. There is a place that welds these onto the newer bell housing. I think the name may be Buffalo Enterprizes.
