48 Chevrolet cabriolet mouldings.
I am restoring a 48 cabriolet and I’m missing upper belt moulding on right side. I have looked for these parts on a’ lot of swap and salvage yards thru some years, sow any tip or lids I appreciate very match.

I wish I could help, but they're VERY hard to find - not many people part out the cabriolets. I know a couple people here in the States are also searching for the mouldings. If I ever see a listing on eBay, I'll let you know. Good luck!

Cousin Dale,
Do you think the moulding from a Fleetmaster Club Coupe could be modified to work?

I think it would take a skilled craftsman to make it work. The basic problem is that cabriolet mouldings are 7/8 inches wide and the coupe mouldings are 1 1/8 inches wide. If we're talking door mouldings, at least the coupe moulding is 1/8 inch longer. If we're talking about the rear quarter moulding, the coupe moulding is 5 inches too short.

I thought the convertible moulding looked narrower on the pictures but wasn't sure.

Kind of strange, don't you think? What was Chevrolet thinking of? Why would they make the convertible mouldings a unique width? All the other body styles use the 1 1/8 inch width. I was also surprised that the coupe rear quarter mouldings were 5 inches shorter. I would have thought the bodies would be identical. Go figure...

Thank you for your reply.
I have I nice set of moulding from a Fleetmaster Club Coupe. The biggest problem is the rear quarter moulding. The body lines are far away from itch other. Pontiac and Oldsmobile used the same body did they used the same moulding?

The 47 and 48 coupe mouldings are different width also. Believe the 48 are thiner. Also go around the quarter windows different.
