Have yet another problem on my 28, have power through the coil and into the primary side of the distributor but have no fire to the plugs, do I have a bad set of points and on the replacement 6 volt coil the + is the input ignition wire and the - goes to the distributor, correct? Just reaching for answers Thanks Denny

Ray, I have another problem, I have fire to the primary and secondary side of the 6V replacement coil and the points are breaking correctly but no spark to the plugs at the cap or at the plugs, have two new rotors and tried both but still no spark, the cap is only months old and wires and plugs are brand new, do you have any ideas at all.Tried all day and could not get fired, it is a 1928 4 Cyl. all stock and do you know the point gap? Thanks Denny

Place your screwdriver tip in the gap on the points(switch on). You should get a spark.

Use a jumper wire from the (-) on the coil to ground (switch on). You should get a good spark from the center wire from the coil, if so, coil is good and problem is probably with the points in the distributor.

Do you have any fire at the high tension wire from the coil to the center of the cap when you are cranking the engine with switch on? Try a new coil high tension wire, then if you have a hot blue spark from the coil wire, while cranking, to ground change the distributot cap. I found a 4 cylinder cap and rotor from my old vintage 4 cylinder welder fit my 28 distributor. It was a Delco Remy and looked the same so I put it on the car and it worked. I don't know what the part number is.

Check to see if the ignition points are touching the inside of the distributor housing. That happened to my friends 27 last summer. we slipped a piece of match book cover to insulate it and away we went.
