The driver's side interior door panel on my 32 sedan has popped loose along the door latch side. Looks like it was tacked in someway. Any ideas as to how to re-tack it would be greatly appreciated.

They're usually "blind-nailed" (using tiny brads or finishing nails with no heads, driving them in flush, then picking the fabric up with a scribe or needle to pull it clear of the heads). If you can see the brads still sticking out the back of the panel board, you may be able to tap it back down and have it hold, adding a few more blind nails to hold it firmly. Probably a better solution (or one to combine with the above) is to use an adhesive on the door frame and back side of the panel, temporarily place a clean 1"x2" vertically along the rear edge of the panel to stiffen it and either clamp or bungee cord it in place until the adhesive is set.

Hope that helps!

All the Best, Chip

You may also want to use a slightly longer brad nail as the old wood may have lost some of its holding ability.

I agree with all of the above.

Keep in mind that the handle side of the door has the least amont of wood to nail into. You may want to check out exactly were the wood starts and ends so you can make location marks with chalk. In a few locations the sheet metal is crimped around the edge to capture the wood. Be careful not to nail too close to the edge of the fabric.

If the wood is worn out, adheasive would also be easier and less hassle.

Great advice...Since it's going to snow this weekend, good time to try the blind brad thing. The wood is in really good shape. Thanks so very much for the help.
