A guy has what is alleged to be an original 1941 Chevrolet bumper jack on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/41-CHEVY-...=item4a9de9ae61

I've seen many of them on ebay over the years and they are all claimed to be "original" and all are different! Can any one supply pictures of what the real original bumper jack would look like for a 41 coupe? I think a lot of these old cars had their jacks switched out over the years, and when people bought the car and the jack was there, they assumed they were original.

Thanks.

Charlie

Charlie, I looked It ain't it. The real one has a rounded end in the shaft that fitted in a mated dimple in the base plate. Best, Charlie

That's what I thought. The one I bought about a year ago is what you describe, but I wasn't sure at the time if it was the real deal or not.

Thanks.

The ebay jack is a MUCH newer jack. The correct 1941-1948 jack can be seen in the G&D with Ron Wades 1941. The post just sits on top of a depression in the base.
Igf you threw out your Dec G&D I have another picture of an original 1941 jack tha t I can send to you.

Go to my website: www.1940chevrolet.com

Click on the link on the left hand side of the home page. The link is entitled "Jacks".
Click on the thunbnail sketch which says 1941 Jack. You will see a detailed drawing of a 1941 Chevy Jack.

Absolutely yes, a copy of the 1938 jacking instructions would be great. I have been uploading alot of that information onto my website. When I get done with some current VCCA responsibilities, I want to work more on identifying jack information.
