Just got my 235 running, after rebuild. Any ideas of what the pressure should be @ idle and or cruzing? Mine shows 15# @ cruzing and only 5-7# @ idle. Could it be the gauge or is that adaquate.

What year 235?
If its a 1950-52 or 1953 stick the pressure is normal.
If its a 1953 Power Glide or any 1954 and up it should read about 10 at a hot idle and around 40 pounds at "speed".

Thanks; it is from a 1961 model but not sure exactly what the motor was in originally.

I am sure it would be a full pressure oiling system engine.
The first thing that I would suspect is check valve in the oil pump. Its a sliding valve actuated by a spring. If the valve allows the oil to by-pass due to the valve sticking the pressure will be very low. Probably would be best to check the presue with a master gauge first. I would not run the engine too much with pressure that low.
