With the new modern oils I was questioning what is the best oil to use for the engine, transmission, rear end? 600W is recommended for trans and rear end,but isn't something better on the market? What about the cup grease for the water pump?

Bob

Water pump grease is best for the water pump. Lubriplate has one that you can get online http://www.lubriplate.com/ search for water pump grease to bring up the listing. You can also buy the same produce from several other suppliers. Your local autoparts house can also order it if they don't stock.

Lubriplate also makes the 600W gear lube, the call it SPO299. It also does not contain sulphur which will eat away brass busing used in our transmissions. Just get the right stuff. As for engine oil, a good 10W30 is all you need.

There are many posts here on the subject. A year ago when I joined I found the searched posts to be quite useful. My 28 is now very well and properly lubed, thanks to VCCA.
