I can't decide if I should re-install the sun visor on my 1941 Chevrolet Special Deluxe. Going to paint the rims, and wonder if I should go ahead and paint the visor as well. I don't see too many 1941 Chevrolets with them. Does anyone know why? For me it reduces the visibility, but if its the appropriate thing to do for this year then I will go ahead and do it. It is a Fulton brand, and friend said that since it was Fulton then I should put it on because they don't make them any more. I can get used to it if it really does this vehicle justice.

Install the sunvisor and also some full side fenderskirts...but only if you want it to look like a 1950 era East Dallas pimpmobile!..... Come on now, and you are retired USAF ? I Bet you know all about drag...don't you? Heck NO! It won't be approiate for a 1941 Chevrolet Special Deluxe!!!! (Just my humble opinion) By the way, thanks for asking, I hardly ever get a chance to express how I really feel about anything, around here!

Fred, an emphatic NO! Toss the Fulton. It does nothing to enhance the looks of the 41. A proper sunshield on the 1950 is acceptable. It is acceptable on your 37. A Fulton probably won't hurt the looks of the 37 all that much. So if you are inclined to stick that sucker on something opt for the 37. Actually, they totally and positively enhance the looks of F--ds.
On a 41 it merely breaks up the sublime, mental picture of unbroken air as it flows along of the hood, up, lightly kissing the windshield, and whispering on as it goes slipping its way over the roof of the car. Yes, picture this, as the car charges stallion-like on its way to the nearest liquor store. Putting a Fulton on a 41 is tantamount to a-finding rat turd instead of a cherry on a banana split. It makes some viewers readily turn their heads in dismay and others pale as the upchuck reflex kicks into overdrive. (I'm not biased, you know.)
Now, you may get some contrary advice from such as a Mr. Mack, somewhere in Texas, a-sitting on a pomegranate or a friendly old "uncle" loose in a corn field in Iowa, a-muttering to himself whilst a-stomping out some crop art or a mad hatter down in south LA who doesn't know "a" (as in learning the first letter in the 41 alphabet). Listen up, Pilgrim, iffen their advice is contrary to mine then run for the hills. (No. Not literally!)
Again, do not put that Fulton on that 41. If you do, and then later come to your senses, you'll just have to take it off. You may even scratch the paint on the car. And, it's no fun to do so at a car show when you're trying to make that non-factory accessory vanish.
Best wishes, Charlie
BTW: Best heed my advice as if it were a warning. I'm getting together a dark clothed committee of like minded gents such as I. We don't want to have to pay you a visit. Our first stop will be in south LA. Whilst there doing our duty, as we see it, we hope to pick up some hats so as to make us look more official like.

Tell me how you really feel about it Mr Mack. Worried about drag on a 41' Chevy? I was more concerned with it looking stupid. However that begs the question doesn't it? Mr Mack do you know where I can get a whale tail for a 1941 Chevrolet Special Deluxe?????? One like they have on the 1941 Porche Carrera (SP)? Ya' all might think these Chev's are all the same......but mine is different. It's smokin 6 is unreasonably fast....like the F-15-fuel injected rattlesnake, and I' wanna, gonna, needa reduce the drag. On a more serious note. Thanks for the input. Off the car it stays. I had a hunch to put it on Ebay after seeing Fulton Repro's today going for $599, just needed a gut check. Thx.
So how did you get that fancy wood grain paint back on the dash and window trim? Is it easier to do than it looks, or does it cost 2 arms and 2 legs?

I am glad you and Mr Mack did decide to respond. That is exactly what I was looking for. Off the car it stays. Personally, it looks better that way. You folks definitely don't pull back any punches, and have a very interesting command of the English language, and just left the political arena. So many questions...so little time.
Thanks again.

We, who are in the, often unappreciated, business of giving everyone our opinion of what they should do, encourage you to carefully unbolt that sucker and hang it in a barn as Uncle Ed did.
Now, having said that, I know what you're a-wondering. Why does Uncle Ed keep hanging on to those Fultons he has hanging in his barn? Easy. Party nest egg. Yep. Party nest egg. Let me explain. You merely have to visualize a possible future event as described below:
Uncle Ed figures that if, God forbid, the barn is destroyed, he'll have gotten everything out but those "things" a-hanging there.
Then when the insurance man comes along to assess the damage, Uncle Ed will conger up a well of tears and say "I got everything out but some beautiful, cherry, real expensive Fultons visors. I jest didn't have time to save "um (snifffing back from overloaded tear ducts ). See 'um a-lying over there. It breaks my heart. It truly does. And now their all twisted up by that dad-gum twister. Oh, boo hoo. (More tears and sniffing. You get the picture.) Oh boo hoo, hoo, all twisted up."
Adjuster being vaguely familiar with Fulton's awkward appearance, jokingly asks "How can you tell?"
Finally after consoling Uncle Ed for about 15 minutes, the adjuster gets down to business and asks "How much do you think they were worth? What would it take to settle?" To which Uncle Ed (who is prepared for this question) takes out his red hanky, wipes his eyes, blows his nose and manages to whisper, barely audibly, through sniffles and while risking a sneaky a peak at the adjuster as to measure his gullibility, replies "Well, they're each a-going for around three grand now-a-days." Soon adjuster leaves.
With check in hand Uncle Ed sadly and slowly, in case a neighbor is watching (although neighborhood distances being what they are in Iowa, is highly unlikely), makes his way into the house (it having being spared). Then, after closing the door behind him, he immediately drops the charade, pumps his fist vigorously and yells, "YES!!! A-scaring the h--l outa the dog and cat. Grinning like a mule eating briars, he goes a-Texas two-stepping over to liquor cabinet - following the diagram painted on the floor that MrMack from Promenade Point down in Central Texas had sent him - , pours himself a couple fingers from one of the two Crown Royal bottles (the other Crown Royal bottle is for his Chevy friends who stop over occasionally. It's secretly marked and filled with Early Times). He steps over the Weed Eater, turns the TV on to the Jerry Springer show, settles into his easy chair and takes a victory sip. All this whilst having the Eagles tune "There's gonna be a party tonight" running through his mind. See?????
Yes, take it off and hang it in a barn. It may finance a party someday. (But I hope no disaster, even remotely related to the events described above , has to happen to make it so.)
Best, Charlie
