after installing a new clutch on m 1954 chevy truck the clutch dose nt totally disengage and will not go into gear had the flywheel resurfaced

appears to be clutch linkage mal-adjustment or incorrect throw out bearing/throw out fork. can you back off the linkage enough to feel slop in the fork/bearing assembly?good luck.mike

Other things to check:
-- Pedal linkage not properly adjusted ==> not fully lifting pressure plate when pedal is to floor.
-- Pilot bearing damaged during reinstallation or tranny input shaft not properly mated to pilot bearing.
-- Clutch plate facing wrong way.
-- Clutch plate not free to slide on input shaft splines.

It may be that the clutch lever is not fastened to the ball.
