What is the correct number used for the front parking lights on a 68 Camaro?

Is it an 1157 amber bulb? Or have the replacement bulb numbers changed. I can't seem to find one at R&S, or Pep Boys, or NAPA.

I can get them thru Rick's but I'd like to just pick up a few locally.

Thanks.

I picked up some 1157 bulbs from my local NAPA dealer not too long ago.

Thanks JunkYardDogJunkYardDog.

Where those the amber type? Because my Napa is a mess and nobody puts things back were they're supposed to be. I hate that store!

The bulbs that I purchased were clear, but the amber 1157 bulbs were available also.

Thanks Gene.

That's why I'm asking if the numbers may have change. I saw 1158a but no 1157a...??? Some of the amber paint was peeling off right in the sealed package???? What's up with that?

many of the 1157A bulbs were painted an amber color. the industry went to 1157NA (natural amber) glass. I just pulled a pair of 17 year old 1157A bulbs from my 71 Cutlass saturday that had all but faded to clear.

Hi RG,
I've had great luck using Sylvania brand misc bulbs in my '70.The numbers have changed somewhat, though. The bulb you are looking for should be Sylvania T2357NA.That's what I run.
FYI,the Sylvania catalog has applications and a croos ref # guide going back into the 60's.I was able to look up just about all the various bulbs and purchase right off the shelf.I wrote down all the original bulb numbers from my factory service manual and went to a local O'Reily's/Murrays auto parts store(they carry the sylvania line). They also make their "Long Life" series which carries an LL designation after the type numbers.I purchased all the LL series bulbs that were available for my car as well as all the regular small bulbs(dash, interior, parking lamps,etc..).Good luck.
Hope this helps,Jim

RG,
FYI-I forgot to mention that Sylvania also has an online bulb application guide that goes way back<g>.Here's the link.
Take care,Jim

Thats great info and thank you Jimpala70.

I saw those Sylvania bulbs in R&S. I didn't buy them because of the 23 before 57 and figured they were for foriegn cars.

Thanks for the link!

Ray
