The car was originally a gold color, so was the dash, kick panels. etc. This time it will be red, but not sure I want that on the dash. Maybe a dull black for less reflections. What do you think? Opinions welcome. Happy motoring. Curt

With a black exterior the car could have been ordered with either a red or black interior. With the red interior the dash would be red ....and black with a black interior. In 1963 they used a dull black paint on the dash to reduce glare. If equipped with the optional dash pad the vinyl would have covered the top of the dash.

I have done several of the 64 dashes. I used SEM vinyl spray on the metal dash and it matched the look of the original dash and held up good to the sun on it. It dries to a semi gloss finish like the original when used on metal. It can also be clear coated for use on the steering wheel to match the dash. The color that matches the 64 red is Firethorn Red. I got the last can at NAPA within the last year so it should be available yet.

I went with some old dull black lacquer, and am satisfied with the results. Thanks for the comments.
