I'm in search of 3.55 gears to swap into my '47 aerosedan rear end. I was told 3.55's are in 55-57 rear end. A co-workers says I can come and check out what he has in his yard. How can I ID these rear ends with the correct gears I'm looking for.

There should be letters on the right side of the pumpkin. Scrape the grease off and see what the letters are and post them here and I am sure they can be deciphered. 1955-1964 pumpkins are interchangeable. The housings are a little different as the 55-57 have leaf springs and the later have coil spring suspension. Some of the letter codes to look for would be---AB, BB, AA, AG, BA, BG, AD, AE, BD,--hope this helps
