What causes static on an AM radio in my 72 Chevy pick-up? The radio plays fare when the engine is off but when you start it up there is a lot of static. You can also here the engine when you rev the motor. How can I fix it? Thanks.

It is more of a Grrrrrr when you rev the engine. It almost sounds like you can see the rotor going around in the distributor. There is no popping or crackling sound. Thanks.

I would assume that because it is a '72 you still have points and condenser. You can put another condenser on your ignition coil. Make sure your radio is grounded. Make sure your motor has a good ground going to the body. Radios must accept any interferance per FCC. If you have anything else that didn't come with the truck attached to the electrical system, it can interfere as well.
