Anyone have any experience with the "street rod" fuel tanks offered by the FS for the 31-32s?

I put one in a 32 four door. Fits good, comes with new straps because the tank is 2 1/2 inchs deeper which means it hangs lower. It is 16 gal instead of 10 gal and that is a plus. I did not use the vent tube and valve or gas cap they provided. I went with the stock vented cap. The only problem I found was the exhaust pipe was to close to the bottom of the tank. I cut the pipe and added a 2 1/2 inch section on the rear downhill slope. Result is you can see a little more tank from the rear view and the tail pipe is a little lower.

the illustration shows a fitting on the top of the tank. what is it's purpose and did it interfere with the installation? does the fuel line attach in the same area as the original?

I'm getting a lot of rust in the sediment bowl, the tank was sealed years ago.

From the description in the Filling Station catalog the street rod gas tank has a provision for an in tank fuel pump and a line sized for a V-8. It should not be an installation problem.

Fuel line hookup is the same. Fitting on top is for a vent valve which is needed if you use the non vented cap they provide. I put a pipe plug in the vent hole on top and used a stock 32 vented gas cap. Dick
