Hi,

4 radios were offered as accessories in 1941. The nature of the car did not have any relation to the radio. Each radio could be installed in any car.

Model 985696 was a small 5-tube radio that was universal and could be used in the cars and trucks.

The most popular radio was the Model 985695. This was a 5 pushbutton radio with one button as a tone control.

A very good radio was the 3 pushbutton Model 985694. A shortcoming of the radio was the fragile push buttons. Obtaining those push buttons has always been a challenge.

The top of the line radio was the Model 985697. This was a 5-band radio, one broadcast and 4 short wave bands. This is the current most popular radio. Due to the push-pull output system the sound quality is extremely good. Not much left on the short wave bands, however WWV can usually be picked up so you could tune an instrument and obtain the exact time.

Two types of antenna were available, a two post side mount and a remote control reel antenna.

The chevradioman has all of these radios in stock.

For whom it may concern. Napa carries a flat "Batwing" interior antennae that is amplified. No drilling or mounting, if that scares anybody. It is 12 volts, but, I had it hooked up to 6 and it worked just fine. It came with a lengthy cable as well. I think it was under $25

Hello Ray.

Those 3 little letters in your post were music to my ears!!

As an old Navy Radioman spent lots of time listening to WWV and her sister station WWVH in Canada.

Thanks for the memories, hadn't heard those letters for many years.

Jim.
