Hello I'm a VCCA member & I have been writing the Mystery series for the G&D. A VCCA member in PA sent me a photo copy of an old Chevrolet dealer plaque that he 'found on the wall of an old Sub Dealership in Wallace WVA.' It has the Chevy bow-tie at the top then centered in capital letters,
NEVER FORGET A CUSTOMER
NEVER LET HIM FORGET YOU.

It is signed but I really can't read it. It looks like
Wm. E. Hollie, Hollic, Holli
It looks like something from the 1930's.
Does anyone know who Wm. E is? And does anyone have any information on it.
I will gladly write up an article for the G&D with any information I receive. Thanks.

Hi Michael,
Do you have the book "Chevrolet Dealerships" ? Wm. Holler is mentioned init during the '30's. I May have spelled the name wrong but he was like a general manager of Chevrolet back then. If you don't have a copy you should get one as its contains a lot of dealer info. I will look my copy up later and give some facts.

Gene thanks for the reply. No I don't have the book 'Chevrolet Dealerships', I wish I did! I guessed that it came from the 1930's because of its style. It might have been a bronze metal to begin with but someone painted it silver then they repainted the black lettering & some if it is hard to read. Wm. Holler would work. I'll see if anyone else comes up with anything. Thanks. Michael

The name is "Wm E. Holler" and the plaque is gold in color. However, it is made out of a composite material, not metal. I have the plaque in my collection and I would date it to the late 1930's or early 1940's.

There were 4 of those plaques. As the dog indicated they were pressed from some composition material and all are gold in color.

In addition to the one mentioned is: BUILDING MEN IS MANAGEMENTS GREATEST RESPONSIBILITY, SUCCESS IS GOOD MANAGEMENT IN ACTION, AND TO BE FIRST IN SERVICE WE MUST PUT SERVICE FIRST. As indicated all 4 were signed by Holler.

Watch for SURPRISE in the G&D that will feature these items.

Michael, There is a chapter in the book about Wm. Holler. He was the head of Chevrolets sales in the '30's and three of the plaques are pictured. He was great for those sayings.
The book is Classic Chevrolet Dealerships by Jon Robinson. I got mine from Overstockcm several years ago.

I have this same plaque hanging in my garage. ( Eclectic museum my wife calls it sometimes ) This is shown in the 1935 Chevrolet Service News, on the cover. I can not put my hands on my Service News at this time. Does some one have these that could look up ths issue. I think it also mentions something about the promotion.
