I think I may have the wrong flex plate on this engine. I can't get the starter to fit. Also the engine number does not match the car number, so I am curious about the engine. What year? or what ever. also what flex plate should it have? Thanks. Curt

Gene,
I also found GF to be a '65 283, 195HP, PG Engine on a couple of different online sites.

The MSA-1 Chevy Small Block Suffix Codes book also lists a 283 with the GF Suffix code for a '66 Impala 283 195 hp also with a pg trans.

Thanks for the comments guys. More information on the engine, when I put it in my 57 Belair at one time, I had to drill and tap a hole for one of the front motor mounts. It had side motor mounts. The transmission that was with the 64 SS was a power glide floor shifted from the center consol. Where is the plant that the T in the serial number represents. Curt
