Looked at front ujoint seems ok ?, also balanced tires.Any ideas

The most common cause of floor vibration on these cars is the U joint and the bushings inside of the torque tube that the rear yoke of the U joint and drive shaft ride in.
The cure is the Oakie bushing....see the Filling Station's catalog.

Thanks Chevgene for the info , it looks like a scary job, I'll
read over that section. Looks like you need a puller to remove old bushings ? Its times like these I wish they had an open drive line. Thankyou.

I went over the repair manual several times for oakie bushing replacement it appears you have to pull the rear end
completely out of the car. I hate to start then tell someone
what I did - and hear boy you did that the hard way. Do the rivets have to come out of the torque tube ? Any help is better than where i am now . Thanks

To install the Oakie bushing-
Disconnect the U joint. Remove rear yoke of U joint. Remove front torque tube bushing. This is done by drilling a small hole in the dowel that keeps the bushing in place. After a hole is drilled the dowel can be easily removed by several methods. One is the start a small screw in the hole and use it to pull the dowel out. Next remove the bushing, some years have a slot that allows you to get behind the bushing and push it out. You can also make a hook to slide beteewn the drive shaft splines and outter tube to pull it out.
It is not necessary to remove the rear bushing to install the Oakie. The seal end of the Oakie goes in first, drive it in til it hits the old bushing and your done. The drive shaft will now contact the Oakie in a new, unworn area. The rear yoke of the U joint will ride in the front of the Oakie.
See the ad for the Oakie in the Fillingstations catalog.

not necessary to remove the differential from the car.

The FS usually sends pretty detailed instruction with their parts
