I am about to replace a number of wood pieces including the main sills on a 1931 Sport Coupe. This is my first chevy of this vintage and the wood work has raised a number of questions. 1. what is the correct type and color of black paint for the wood? 2. is glue used when joining the wood? 3. over the windshield, where the wood rests against the metal there is a oily/petroleum permeated cloth. what is it, where can i purchase it or how can i make it?
Thanks for the help, Edger

Thanks Junkyard Dog for all good information I have spent the morning looking through my catalogs and I haven't found any green hugh wood sealant to match the factory. Do you have a source?
what I did find was a product from Smith and Company called Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer (CPES), It looks like good stuff, do you or anyone have any insight on this product?
off to work, Thanks, Edger
