I just aquired a chevy coupe project. The past owner cut the door tops off to make a roadster, and did not save the tops. I see the doors are much shorter than my 4 dr sedan, are 2 door sedan doors interchangeable with coupe doors, or must I locate coupe doors? Also the cowl and A- pillars are from a 30 standard sedan. I know the 30 a-pillars are wider at the bottom to accomodate the windshield slant, is the cowl different as well?

I am still trying to find the info needed to make this homebuilt roadster back into a coupe. I will need to locate the pieces for the roof as well as two replacement doors. Nobody has responded to the question of if two door sedan doors will fit a coupe. Could someone who has a 29 2 door sedan please measure the door width just below the beltline? The cut up doors are 35 1/2 inches wide below the beltline and above the top hinge.
The other problem I have is the cowl was replaced with a 1930 cowl. I want to make the car as 29 correct as I possibly can. Are the 1929 and 1930 cowls slightly different to accomodate the wider A-pillars? They look the same but I was hoping for a more definite answer.
If one of you guys could fill in the blanks for me I can start to accumulate parts to bring the coupe back to life. I still have alot to do on my 4 door so I won't be working on the coupe right away but wish to start collecting the needed parts to put it together.

I don't have either a '29 or '30 Chevy so can't get the measurements for you. Can suggest you purchase a reprinted 29-32 parts book. They will have the part numbers and applications that permit you to make up an interchange list for your project.

The doors from 29 coupe and 29 2 door sedan are the same. The front body hinge pillars and lower windshield cross bar from a 30 is quite different than a 29. The door check on a 29 is on the top of the door, and on a 30 there is a rod between the two lower hinges that extends through the hinge pillar to stop the door. The braces from the hinge pillar and the lower windshield cross bar are different as well and so is the way the dash mounts up. The cowl as far as I know is the same for 29 and 30. Hope this helps.

There is an early 1929 cowl and a late 1929 cowl. The early 1929 cowl has the "hump" insert and the later 1929 cowl doesn't......it is all one piece.
