I had the car out today and noticed the amp gage was at 20 Amp's found the meter was stuck after a tap it went to 10 to 15 Amp's with fluctuation when the lights were turned on it dropped to zero with engine at idle which I thinks is normal for some reason I checked the voltage out put at the generator and had 8 volts I used two different meters and both read close to the same and I do not know if that is normal. I would have expected something a little over 6.5 volts ANY IDEAS.

Ya can't fix it if it ain't broke! The electrical manual calls for around 8.2 to 8.5 volts output. The voltage will vary slightly depending upon the generator speed and the generator temperature.

The ammeter needle should not fluctuate (bounce) at specific readings. If it does you might have a weak brush spring in the generator.

Once again thank you for the info, I need a computer out in the shop and I have to remember what I have read, I will work on the computer first. I will look at the brush springs tomorrow
