OK, I am soliciting opinions. My 1931 Sedan has been in my family since day one. My Grandfather bought it new, and it has now been passed to me. I want to restore it, but I also want to drive it and enjoy it. I don't want to just trailer it to car shows. My question is should I paint it the original color combination? I obviously don't have the same taste in car color as my Grandfather since I'm not that found of the original. I have seen other color combinations for 1931 that are much more appealing. Would I be doing the wrong thing by painting it another color that was available for that year? I know there are differing opinions on this, so please give me yours. I'm really undecided here.
Thanks
Ralph

My opinion: I believe it is your vehicle and you should do as you please with it. You will like and enjoy the car much more if you make it pleasing to you.

I agree with Back Roads. I'd use a combination that was available for a 1931. ( You may want to check Mr. Barker's 1931 pages at http://1931chevrolet.com/Color-Index.htm Gee I wish he'd do 1929 pages.)

The answer to your question is, what is the relationship to your grandfather. If he doesn't fit in the picture, do as you like.

If I had known that growing old would be this much fun---I'd have done it sooner!

Paint it any 31 color that YOU choose. It's your car.

I'm sure Grand Dad would be proud of the fact that it's still on the road and that you are keeping it in the family.

(it wouldn't hurt to ask your wife her opinion)
