I have a 78 camaro with a three coor radiator. Is there a four coor radiator designed for the 78 camaro? If not, I have seen in order to cool the radiator, I can install a pull type fan. Will the pull type fan work ok? Would it be best to take off the fan blades and put a regular electric push fan on? Im open for suggestions. I hate to add something that would be a waste of money. thanks

First of all is the question, "why is it over heating?" Is it actually running hot or does the gauge say it's hot? A three row radiator should be plenty for that car if it hasn't been modified. Is the radiator & engine shudged up in the cooling system? It should have a clutch fan. Is the fan on the clutch where it pulls the air towards the motor? Do you have a thermostat in the engine? Do you have a fan shroud on the radiator? Is the fan about 1/2 way in the shroud opening? Is there anything in front of the radiator (like a tranny cooler)
that could block air? Is the lower valance panel still on the car?
Try these ideas........Joe

Thanks. The motor in the car is a 383. I rebuilt the motor when I was state side the last time. I have a 192 thermostat in it. The shroud is all stock along with the clutch fan. It does have an air conditioner coor in front of the radiator. I was told that the edelbrock carb may be running too lean causing it to run up to a temp of 230. I have a new 650 Holley to replace the 600 edelbrock. I just don't think that the carb on it is running lean. I will try to take off the air conditioner coor since I am not using it. I just need to get the motor back down to around 200-210 at the most. After that, the motor starts to lose power. Back during the winter time when it was cold, it got up around 220-230. Once the heater blower was turned on, it started to come down in temp. I am just guessing that it just needs to be more than a clutch fan to take care of the air movement. thanks

I would think that it would run cooler as it accumulated miles.

If I had known that growing old would be this much fun---I'd have done it sooner!

I am not sure, but i changed the thermostat out from 180 to 192 degrees. I did change the radiator cap on the new radiator down to a six pound cap. I am in hopes that maybe taking out the air conditioner coor, may help to open up some air circulation. I seen where one guy had the same thing, he took out the thermostat completly and it ran cooler. I have way to much money in this motor to take chances. Maybe I am a little on the cautious side of things. In reality, if the carb was running to lean, will this cause it to over heat? Since this is a 383 motor, I may need to find out what the exact timing is and make sure it is on. I just get different ideas on the settings. I will have to take one thing at a time and go from there. The motor may not have any more than 50 miles on it. Thanks
