I am in the process of replacing the rear carpet in my car.
The front is a rubber mat. Hamton Coach tells me the original carpet did not go under the front seats and on both sides of the seat it was a seperate piece that snapped down. Then what went under the two front seats? I want to make it just like it was new.

Yep, me too. But I bought mine in 1986 from them. It extends from the back seat (at the floor level) towards the front, ending just under the front of the front seats.

wow.. that sure sounds funny. how about this instead?
It starts just under the front of the front seats, and goes all the way to the front of the rear seat.

The floor mat and carpet in my '32 5 pax coupe are as Bill describes. I would have run the rubber under the front seats and put the carpet in the "elegant" rear compartment. I don't know if mine are from Hampton. It is a slightly odd arrangement.
