31Phaeton Grease Monkey Registered: 04/17/09 Posts: 28 Loc: Virginia	After 45 years, I finally have new steam-bent oakbows for my 31 Phaeton top. Question: What is the best lacquer/varnish to use as a coating for the oakbows. I think spar varnish may be OK. Any suggestions? VCCA member since ca 1982

Chip Registered: 02/27/06 Posts: 1160 Loc: Asheville, NC	I used semi-gloss Varathane on my '30 Phaeton and was really happy with the result. It appears to me that the bows were originally uncoated -- the only thing mine had on them was stenciled-on part numbers. Hope that helps.
