Is there a preference in mufflers & exhaust on a 32? I was going to go down to the local muffler shop and get a new exhaust system! Anything special I should ask for???
Thanks Steve

The Filling Station (www.fillingstation ) sells a complete exhaust system authentic to your year - it's catalog number EX-29-32. If you wanted, you could at least bring that to a shop to put in, although it's not too difficult to do it yourself. As Skipper says, the exhaust comes off the manifold and straight down the left side of the car about halfway between the running board and driveshaft. If you don't have the muffler bracket riveted to the left side of the frame (as Skipper says) it will be important to put one on to keep the muffler from banging around. If you look at the illustration on the Filling Station on-line catalog, you'll see the curved piece that goes over and around the rear axle. There's a bow-tie shaped bracket that holds and positions that bended portion of the exhaust pipe. You'll see that bracket available in the catalog as well.

If you have the old pipes to use as a pattern a local shop will bend you up new ones for you to install. Could even get aluminumized or ss pipes to slow down the rust out.

I doubt if Meineke has the bolt on muffler and exhaust pipe, but they can make you another tail pipe.

Just take the whole rig down to a neighborhood muffler guy and let him fab up you a hum-dinger of an exhaust system.

Some muffler shops have the newer type bending machine that do not reduced the diameter of the pipe in the bend.
If you are concerned about the looks of the pipe check and see which type bending machine they have.
This newer type machine was shown on that motorcycle show (OCC, father, sons) when they bought the machine for their shop to bend bike exhaust pipes for their $100k+ bikes. A really neat machine.

Ok! Now for the $64 dollar question! What diameter pipe?
