To anyone interested -- tried to order rear mounts for 32 chevy from Filling Station and they are no longer available. The couple who used to manufacture them are up in years and in failing health. Jim.

Yep, there was a discussion on Chevy Chatter about this in late 2008 as I remember. Too bad that the rear mounts are no longer available because a lot of dudes need them.

Thanks for the update!

I encoutered the same problem when I tried to order them. I repaired one of mine with some material I had left from pouring a set of rubber step plates for a old Buick.
It's a polyurethane rubber that I found on the internet from a company called PolyTek. They have a line of different materials for pouring molds and parts. I belive the product I used was Poly 75-80. I cleaned the 2 pieces of the mount real well and bead blasted them. And mounted them on a wooden fixture, that I made to hold them apart at the proper distance.
Then formed a dam out of modeling clay to retain the rubber until it set. This was about 2 years ago and it appears to be still in one piece.

I have the same problem now. I was going to try and do the same thing on four mounts, find some material that you can replace the rubber with. I am glad to hear that yours are still in service after two years. I will try to locate the same material that you used and keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks
Jay

I recently bought a pair of reproduction mounts (GM#836805) from I & I Reproductions for my 36 truck. Their catalog lists the same mounts for a 32 car. Cost was $40/pair, and they were perfect.

I tryed them a couple weeks ago and they said the same as the filling station, not available. Must be they all came from the same source.
Thanks for the help.

Steele Rubber revulcanizes mounts, but of course you must send them your old mounts. They did a trans. mount for me, and it came out beautiful--but not cheap. I also have a spare set of engine mounts which need revulcanization if you're interested. PM me if you need more info.

Thanks for the new information, I bought two mounts from Bruce on this site a little while ago. I have three that need to be redone. I am leaning towards the moldable rubber material mentioned in the begining of this link. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Jay

Yes, I&I Reproduction and the Filling Station both purchased their rear motor mounts from the same source. Most dealers usually get many of their parts from the same source as well.

As WinoWally mentioned, your best bet would be to get your rear motor mounts revulcanized by Steele Rubber Products.

Yep, it is all a matter of every dealer getting their product from the same supplier......and once that supplier discontinues a specific part, when the existing parts on the shelf are sold, all of the other dealers are then out of stock as well.

Thank you one and all for your input!! As Junkyard Dog is aware, I have a 31 coupe with a 32 block in it with the original 31 rear mounts and 32 front mounts. I dont have 32 mounts to redo and therein lies the problem. Per Junkyard Dog and Chipper, should use 32 mounts to match front. Will Pm you Wally and see if we can get together on yours that need redoing. Thanks. Jim.

I decided to try one more time to order rear engine mounts from the Filling station yesterday. This time they showed them as available if anyone needs them. Order details below.

Thanks for the update. Cured my problem by buying a great set of mounts from Wino Wally and than sent them to Steele Rubber Products to have them revulconized. They did a great job and the turn around time from time sent to time received was only 2 weeks. Price was 111.80. My complaint with FS is that I sent rocker arms and shafts to have rebuilt on the 10th of March with a promise of 3 week turn around time. As of this posting, have not yet received them. Called 2 weeks ago and they were supposed to be in process of repairing at that time. Oh well, will call again on Mon AM and see what has transpired. Wish they would have told me that it would be 6 to 8 weeks to start with. The other items I ordered were johnny on the spot. Jim.

on the spot. Jim.

Being new to this restoration stuff, I have found that everytime you tear something down you have to hurry up and wait for parts! O well I have learned to be patient and how to do several projects at once to keep going.
