A little learning is a dangerous thing; Drink deep, or taste not the
Pierian spring. There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain,
and drinking largely sobers us again

This is listed in my local paper: 1940 Chevrolet Master 85 2door sedan, 216 engine, 3 speed trans, 4:11 axle, all original, all new or rebuilt, runs strong and garage kept. Asking $17,000 OBO. Calif 805-929-8271.

If the car is all original as stated it would have the more desireable 3.73 axle ratio. Thats what the low priced straight front axle 1937-1940 cars had.

The dude selling the car probably doesn't really know which rear-end is in the vehicle so, as Chev Nut stated, it should not be the 4:11.

The 3:73 rear axle ratio is also listed in some of my original 1940 literature as an original option for both the Master Deluxe and Special Deluxe models.

I just put in what was in the for sale ad. I do not know the person that is selling the car. But I could possibly check it out and take pictures if someone were interested.
