Dealer installed or aftermarket? Well, if it is Harrison General Motors, it was probably made for Chevrolet. Does it have a Chevrolet bow-tie emblem on the front? Now comes the real question, Was it specifically made for your 1965 Malibu?
I have a 1966 Chevelle under-the-dash Harrison air conditioning unit. I verified that it was correct by looking in the booklet entitled - Chevrolet Custom Feature Accessories for 1966. It is a small booklet 8 inches by 4 inches. It is printed in color and is about 20 pages in length. It shows the air conditioning unit quite nicely as it would look under the dash in the 1966 full size Chevy, 1966 Chevelle and the 1966 Chevy II.
If I were you, I would be looking for similar literature for your 1965 Malibu.
