Can somebody post a picture of the standard hubcap that came on a 1969 Chevrolet 1/2 ton? It's 4 wheel drive so the front cap would have the hole for the locks. I'm looking for the smaller cap that snaps over the four lugs on a 16" wheel. The stuff I've looked at only shows the full wheel covers.

That agrees with my findings. The came painted or stainless and were used for a few years.

Cool, that gives me something to look for. However the 10 1/2 inches is too small for the 16" wheel.

Thanks

Bruce

The 3/4 and 1 ton used a larger cap of the same design. As Gene wrote both painted and stainless were available. The low cost models had the painted caps as standard equipment.

I think that the bowtie in the center that is gold was '73 and later. The pre '73 had a bowtie in the center that was blue.

The hubcaps on my '72 Cheyenne have a blue bow-tie and the 1973 pickup that we once owned had a gold bow-tie on the hubcaps.

You guys like this cap better? This is the larger size to fit the bigger wheels.

OK, Bruce,
Just put larger paper in your color printer and make 4 copies of the photo. Double sided tape might keep them on 'til it rains. Seriously, if you want to buy some at an elevated price, right click on the photo and then go down the popup list to click on properties. The first part of the "location" address (up through the .com) is the website. Once on the home page then select make model etc. and you will be able to order a set.

My brother bought a 1971 Chevy K10 new. It came with NO hubcaps of any kind. In 1977 I bought a 1971 K10 from it's original owner, it also had never had caps. Both trucks were delivered new with white wheels. My truck was Hugger Orange with a White roof, Wayne's was Dark Green. Hubcaps were probably available at extra cost but not standard equipment in 1971 on the 4 wheel drive 1/2 tons. Both trucks were low trim versions, caps may have been included with fancier models. I have a pair of front wheel covers for 4X4 models of this vintage.

I believe the 16 inch wheels on Bruce's truck would have been special equipment of some kind. The 16 inch wheels I have seen for this era would have used the same cap as the 15 inch wheel. The larger cap was designed to cover the larger 8 bolt wheel center.

We are out of colored ink but I have crayons! laugh Those caps are a little pricey for me, I'll keep looking around. At least I know what to look for, Thanks!

I suspected that the caps were a bit too pricey unless you are desperate.
