Hello I just finished rebuilding my electrolck and finally installing it and with a few small glitches it fired right off and now definately runs better than it ever has. Seems that the miss is nearly gone I think and it seems a little smoother until it sits there for a few minutes and then the rpms start dancing around a little bit. I did set my points and gap and timing as suggested on this forum over the original specs so I dont know if the electrlock installation fixed alot of my problems or the change in tuning but either way much better. Any ideas on why the rpm play around when it sits idling though? I had carb rebuilt about 6 years ago by F.C. and when it was returned to me the car ran still as crappy as before I sent it out, my car is old, lots of miles and worn out so not F.C. fault ( I hope he rests in peace ) but I still have to wonder if it still is a carb problem...loading up maybe, would that cause these symptoms?? What else might Ilook for, i did compression check, all around 70 pounds and one at 53, I know not good, dont know if that is dirty valves or bad rings but I dont think that would have anything to do with this problem, new wires or they were 6 years ago ( and I have maybe 20 miles on the car in the past 6 years ) new rotor, cap, original coil, new condenser, points also new.
