I am new to this forum and still reenrolling in the VCCA and I am hoping that someone could have some answers that I have been trying to research. I am curious to know who manufactured the keys for a 29 Chevy, I have talked to a couple of people and they are thinking Briggs and Stratton/ Basco but could not give me a definate answer. Also I have an original spare tire lock that is missing the correct key, what sort of key might have been used there. Please keep in mind if anyone reads this that I have already asked that I am trying to get everything as correct as possible on this car, I have owned it maybe 6 years now and I dont ever plan to part with it. It is already a very original car with good wood and it is my first really old car. I am thinking that someone out there must know for sure and that is why I keep asking. Also are the door and ignition usually the same code, my ignition key will also work with my door with just the right amount of jiggling. Thanks for any replies.

Yes it is the ignition lock I am referring to initially but also am curuios about the door lock, I have a spare door handle that came with Yale keys, need to know if this is right so who made the keys for ignition also the key type for door, how can I find the correct door cylinder # info, I have found the ignition # info once I took cylinder apart at ignition but cannot see any info at all on door lock and cannot see how to remove the cylinder also you mention Hurd for tire lock, I have never heard that name, That is a key manuf.???how do I find that code, I assume dissasemble the lock?? cannot see how, have you had one of these apart So it sounds like you are telling me that Basco would have been the ignition and possibly Yale for door, do you have to check on this to be sure as I think youmentioned or is this a safe bet
Thanks for your reply
