I was getting ready to pull out on the highway in my 32 and when I let the clutch out I felt a small pop and then it would not pull. You can put it in gear with the clutch in but it will not go in gear with the clutch out. But it you put it in gear and let the clutch out, it will not move. Very strange since you should be able to start it in gear and the car move. I tried starting the car in gear and it would not move. This makes me think it is a transmission issue. I am totally lost here. I am obviously not a tranny or clutch expert, but does this sound like a clutch issue or a trans issue?

I would first look at the rear axles. My bet is a broken axle.

I realize this is probably a very stupid question, but how do I check the rear axles. Just jack up the rear put it in gear to see if they turn?? I am so very new at this. Thanks

From your description, I'm betting on a broken rear axle also.

Jack up one side of the rear. With the car in gear attempt to turn the wheel that is off the ground. If it turns, something is broke. Could be either axle or the drive line.

With the jack removed and both wheels back on the ground and the car in gear (any), push the car and see if it will roll. Could be the drive line. Keep looking.
