hey guys i picked up a 84 vette rolling frame with just the rear body clip and doors. its missing the engine and trans. i`m trying to get the rear clip off the frame. i`m doing this one blind. i don`t have any books. i can`t see any body bolts that hold the frame to body. anybody know how the body comes off the frame. i got the frame on jack stands now and i crawled around under there. i just can`t see how the body is put on there. anybody know??????? thanks.
the c-4's (1984 to ?'96) were all BONDED to the frame. tha only way to remove the rear clip is a panel at a time using chisels to break fiberglass panels from their bonding strips(and you'll almost certainly injure/destroy the panels in so ding). i can think of no reason to do so, unless a certain panel needs replaced. the 1953 thru 1982 vette bodys can be removed from their frames as they were bolted to the frames. mike

hey mike thanks. i was thinking that it must be glued to the frame too. the reason i want to take the body off the frame is. i want to use the frame for the 48 stylemaster i`m building. i know the wheel base is alot shorter. but i`m cutting, chopping and channeling the 48 body to fit the vette frame. i`m going to do whatever it takes to put the vette frame on the 48 body. the frame i got is all there. rear end with disk brake. front end. wheel and tires. steering wheel and column. power brake booster, master cly. etc. thanks again.
get an air hammer and a couple sharp air hammer chisels to remove the fiberglass panels. about 10 years ago, i bought a wrecked 92 ZR1 and removed all the exterior body panels leaving only the firewall and floor pan attached to the frame. i them bonded 61 vette front and rear clips(repos)to the firewall/floorpan. i then fabricated door, hood and trunk hinges as well as a "bed" for a 61 vette windshield. used a set of original doors and trunk lid. put the finished product in primer and have raised hell with the old 61 ZR1 since.good luck with your project.mike
