I m just getting ready to rebuild my door panels on my two door town sedan and the old panels had the nails attaching them to the door. Do I use new nails. or should I install newer style clips to the new panel i am making and pre drill holes for new clips then finish off the door panel and clip it on after. figure I would ask for help now to save while I try and do it with out asking. I will be posting photos soon have been very busy ( fall coming and I own a heating business}

So far no one seems to know what to use to replace the nails that were in the old panels to fasten them to the door when redoing the door panels I will be working on the panels in a few weeks and I will update everyone with what I find when I am finished the car { some time late this fall} I would like to offer my help to anyone that has a 41 as I have had every nut and bolt out and almost back together Im still trying to get a camera to do photos that will load up.

You need upholstery panel trim nails. It a V shaped piece of metal with a nail welded to it. It clips under the metal rienforcement on the edges of the trim panel. It squashed together and the nial is pounded into the original slots on the door. Chevrolet sold them at one time and I would think a local auto upholstery shop, Filling Station or Chevs of the '40's or Hampton Coach sells them. They do work well. May also be available in the little "Help" packages sold in parts stores.

have not brought any yet. just took the panels apart and I see they used a metal strip that goes up the complete side with small cleats and the nails into this. would be nice if someone made these they do not look that bad so I may impervise with them. if not I may just use new push on type clips as I feel they will make a my job easier any other suggestions
