Okey dokey, rather than step on someone else’s thread I guess I’ll just start a new on. I could take the steering gear out of the truck and take it in for the PPG dealer to match up but since I’m gonna be driving the truck most of the summer I don’t want to do that. I would however like to paint the steering wheel now and there isn’t enough good paint on it to use for a sample. I could really use a PPG formula for that flesh color on the Mast Jacket, Shifter rod and Steering Wheel color for the 1950 AD’s. I’d rather work in Delstar (DAR) or Concept (DCC) single stage enamels. I threw away a lot of money on paints from several of the reproduction vendors on things like the exterior and interior finishes and none were very good so I don’t want to go through that again.
I’ve been fairly active over at the Stovebolt forum for almost two years now and this seems to be one of those subjects like interior color and engine paint that everyone has an opinion on but no one agrees on.
So I figured since I was a dues paying member I’d try the Vintage Chevrolet experts and see what they had to say. I have been working with PPG paint systems now for a little more than a year and would really like to stay with it. I really don’t want to learn another product (and it does take a lot of learning now days) or stock another cabinet full of hardeners, catalysts, reducers etc.
I’m hoping to get this hurdle cleared by next month and would really like to have some paint mixed with in the next few weeks.
Thanks
