Is it possible to rekey the locks on the car? I have the original trunk handle, door handle and ignition switch, but no keys. Naturally, I would like them to all be keyed the same.

Also, the door handle with the key slot is installed on the left rear door. I assume that this is an error from a previous owner. Since there is only one keyed door handle, it should be on the driver's door - correct?

Sounds strange but it should be on the pass. side front door. I guess there thinking was they wanted you to get in on the curb side so you would not get hit by a car.

The car would have had two keys when new. One for the doors and ignition and one for the glove box and trunk. New keys can be made by using the key number which was stamped into the handle shaft and can be seen if handles are removed. The number will be between 8000 and 9200. The trunk handle lock cold be recoded to match the door and ignition but not the glove box. The locking door handle can be switched to either side but when moved to the left side the key will be inserted up-side-down. Its a real pain to enter from the right side and squeeze oveer to the drivers side. I have a locking handle on both sides of my '39 to eleminate that problem.

That is strange place to put the only lockable door handle.

I assume that there is no reason that it could not be installed on the driver's door. If the key is upside down, that is a better situtation than having the key on the wrong side of the car.

Yes it is more practicle to have it on the drivers door. I left mine in the stock location it works ok if you have a passenger you unlock their door and they just reach across and unlock your door.

That won't work for me as people are afraid to ride with me and I never have a passenger.
