Ray,

Can you tell me if this radio listed on eBay is the real deal with a model number of 986668?

Right now I wouldn't know if it hit me upside the head?

eBay radio

That is a 1953-54 PB radio. If it has a speaker, it is not listed. The speaker is a standard 4 ohm 6X9 PM speaker. The mounting brackets are the hard part to find.

You are absolutly correct. Check the Technical Article in the August 1987 G&D.

Just an additional note,32 confed, these radios, when properly repaired by an expert sound great and are plenty loud in a 53-54.The one in the picture looks like a good one, condition wise.

Other than the two of you (correction, the three of us now) , who else would real know that a '54 should have a bowtie on the dial glass?

All kidding aside, is the fact that the bowtie is not present on the dial glass a show-stopper?

Can the dial glass be swapped out?

I believe that the dial glass is available from National Chevy. It may be available elsewhere........try asking around on the site!
