Hi, does anyone know of a good solvent to get the old hard rubber off the metal backing of my running boards, most of it has fallen off but what remains is pretty stubborn, I don't really want to mess up the metal (pretty thin). 35 Master. Bob

Warm the back side with a propane torch or heat gun. Then scrape it off with a puddy knife or other flat tool. The rubber was molded in place either directly on the board or on a thin sheet metal backer depending on year. Never had a solvent that worked. If really old and hard tapping with a hammer often breaks pieces loose. Make sure to wear eye protection!
