I can't seem to figure out how to search the forums...I always get an error message when I try. Anyway, does anyone know what the 2.333 battery hanger/strap/tray (whatever it's called) is supposed to look like in a 38 Master town sedan? The one I have now is obviously homemade and is mounted transversely so it hooks on the long sidebolts. Many years ago I bought a bunch of battery hangers which were supposed to fit 37-38-39 Chevys (that's what the guy who talked me into buying them said)and they are 3 3/4" wide x 11" long x 3 1/2" deep and look like they would fit parallel to the car in the groove of the front and back pieces which are connected to the long bolts. Did I get the right things or was I sold a bill of goods?

The 1937-39 battery hanger is rather difficult to explain.I will try. A front and rear bracket is attached to the frame. These brackets have anothe pice attached to the top of each. The tray "hangs" on each bracket, going from front to back.A long bolt goes through the "ears" of on the top of the end brackets. These bolts clamp the battery in place.
I sent you a picture. Let me know if you recieve it.

I thought that I should add the following,
The 1937-39 cars used a group 2 battery which is a size that is no longer made. They were about an inch lower and an inch longer than the group 1 which is all thats available today.
First be sure that your battery cover does not conract the tops of the cables. Then due to the shorter length of the Gr. 1 battery the side horizontal bolts will not be threaded far enough to clamp the battery inplace. A piece of wood at one end of the battery (painted black) will fill the gap.
