well I just put the body back on my chassis of my 41 town sedan and have most of the new bolts installed.{ not tight yet} but I have a few questions on the proper location of some of the old retainers there are 4 offset ones I think go on the rear and the front cowl post frame but wanted to ask first. also I am using the old carriage bolts as they look better than the new ones from the kit but should I put a little sealer around the undersides of the heads on these or any in the trunk ?? after I get the doors on and shim the body is there any good torque for the bolts ?

Tightening the body bolts was a new car pre-delivery requirement back in the "olden" days. I don't not remember seeing a torque wrench being used, if fact there was no torque values given for the tightening of engine parts back then. I would select around 50 Ft. pounds. There are no actual rubber cushions (before 1955), just rubber spacers to prevent metal to metal contact. In the later years when cushions were used the torque was around 30 ft. pounds.

Thanks for the info. I am learning alot about this car as I have had every nut and bolt off the chassis and now am installing everything new or cleaned up. maybe when I am done I will be an adviser for the 1941 Chevy as I will know it inside and out. I look forward to this winter and putting the car back together as this is the fun part,
