On 35 Chevy Master, were the doors hinges painted body color or black. If the doors were hung when the body paint was applied the hinges were probably body color but if the doors were painted before going on the car, the hinges were probably black. Which is correct? Also, the casings mounted to the body into which the dovetail on the door fits seemed to have some dull silver plating instead of being painted. Should it be silver colored? I have usually seen latched painted body color, but again were they body color or black?

The hinges were body color. The dove tail casings on my '39 are body color. That is the way I remember all of them. Not sure of what you mean be the latch - the door lock?

Thanks Gene

I will paint all the items body color.

Yes, by latch I mean the door lock. I used "latch" as FS uses that in their catalog. I have already painted them the body color so I'm glad I was correct on those.

Chevrolet always refered to it as the door lock so I wanted to be sure. Note that the striker plates were unpainted - some knd of grey metal.
