Will a 1940,1941 rearend assembly fit my 1939 chevy 1/2 ton?. I'm trying to install better cruising gears and I've been told that it is not possible to change the ring and pinion in the 39.I would like to keep the closed driveshaft setup. Thank You; Hotpockets

Hot Pockets As I am not sure of specifications but I would think the rearend ratio would be the same in 39 and the 40 41 so you probably wont gain anything there. There are several different driveshaft lengths depending on wheelbase and gearbox combinations. Tony

What kind of 1940-1941 are you refering to? The 1/2 ton trucks and cars from those years also used a 4.11, except for the 1940 Master 85, which had a 3.73. In the passenger car line would be necessary to get up to a 1950-54 Power Glide (3.55) or a 1953-54 stick (3.70), Would take a bit of changing t make those fit.
