I have 3 Questions:
1, Should the embosses on the cowl be black with a pinstripe?
2, Should the aftermarket box be body color or black?
3, Was the fabric roof seamed at the back edge, or was it pleated? I can't beleive it could be streched that far.

Thank you all in advance!

All 1929 half tons were black. Cab only available on the One ton.
What body do you have?

I have a 29 one half ton truck. The cab is the same as the big truck except were the cross member on the light chassis meets the bottom of the cab. The frame is a car chassis, with a different rear cross member and four brackets for the under seat gas tank.

Chevrolet built 1/2 ton and 1 1/2 ton trucks, never heard of a one ton!

The 1929 trucks were painted in many different colors at the factory and if color was ordered usually the radiator shell, headlamps, headlamp supports, fenders, running boards, windshield frame, roof top and visor as well as moldings on hood cowl and cab were painted black then stripped. You could also through Chevrolet have special paint jobs with choice of colors done for extra cost. I have a two page adv. in color showing a 1929 1 ton stake truck painted bright red with black moldings. According to "Early Chevrolet History" by Doug Bell the Chevrolet built cab was offered on the 1 ton trucks only and outside body suppiers for the 1/2 ton

Per George Dammann - 60 years of Chevrolet;
1)29 Chevy trucks were 1 1/2 tons, 28's were only 1 tons
2)29 trucks were only available in blue bell blue, I assume the aftermarket body builders painted them differently.
3)In 1929 Chevrolet offered a 1/2 ton pickup - full cab, no box.
4)1931 was the first year that Chevrolet built it's own box.

Maybe Chevrolet called my truck a light delivery chassis with cab or something. I am calling it a half ton pickup and so does Mr. Dammann

They may have been called 1.5 ton but with single rear wheels they are really 1 ton. Duals were first available in 1930 and were real 1.5 tons. Light delivery chassis(basic car chassis) was a chassis with a cowl, dash and windshield and the rest was supplied by the body builder.

Actually to quote 1929 Chevrolet literature "The gross allowable weight of the Chevrolet Utility Truck - with single wheels shall not exceed 7000 lbs. which includes chassis, cab, body, driver and pay load." 1930 Chevrolet literature "The gross allowable weight of the Chevrolet Utility Truck - with single wheels shall not exceed 7300 lbs. which includes chassis, cab, body, driver and pay load." The 1929 single wheel cab and chassis weighed 2850 lbs. That would make it a 2 ton capacity with a 150 lb body or 1 1/2 ton if the body weighed 650 lbs. The 1930 dual wheeled trucks had a 8000 lb GAW.

Is that considered dry weight, not counting water, oil, fuel, ect. That would make a difference.

My error!
Mr. Dammann doesn't mention 29 pickup at all in either 60 or 75 years of Chevrolet! He does say that chevy truck division produced 1/2 and 1 1/2 chassis.
