I was wondering if any have had to modify the brake shoes to get this bar to work on new brake shoes?
I have just finished installing all new lines and E cables (1959 1/2 ton pickup )and the bars where not there but I found them in the glove box so not sure if they are orginal or not. But believe they are and the brake shoes may not be correct as I am reusing the ones that I removed and not sure if they where installed correctly to start with as the E brake lever is attached to the short pad just wondering if any of you guys had encountered this problem and
what was the fix?
Thanks

The bar, which Chevrolet called a strut, was usually removed when the parking brake cables rusted solid. They were the same for cars and 1/2 ton trunks from 1951 up into the '60's. Yours are probably the originals. The shoes alos fit many years . I can see no reason why yours does not fit (with the info that I have). Need more info.
