I have just removed the cast aluminum front pillar covers from my '29 Imperial Landau body. Some very sloppy work went into this car before the previous owner finally gave up on the restoration. The front section of the body will have to be reworked, the front hinge pillars look like they were made with an axe and there are too many panel gaps in the wrong places.

The aluminum front pillar covers were held in place only with bondo and glue. The only holes I can find are for small nails, no evidence of ever having had threaded holes for machine screws. Is that correct, that they were originally only held in place by small nails? It may seem like a dumb question, I'm still uncovering lots of dumb things that were done to this car, still trying to separate bondo from aluminum.

Thanks - Dave

Nails were used to attach the pillar covers to the wood.
