Hi runningboardguy,

I'm a tad confused. Did you waltz in here, make a total of 7 postings over 3 days, then leave because you didn't get X number of orders for your running boards? We know very little about you, (your profile is basically blank for serious information), we know even less about your product and reputation. Your price is considered high, however we have yet to view or use your product. Frankly, you were too hasty for us to get to know you.

Yes it would be nice to get some kind of explanation. The website has a big bold statement that they are unavailable due to lack of interest also. Some of these mats, especially the 35-36 mats, are not available anywhere, so I would think there would be a market for quality reproductions at a fair price. It's puzzling, isn't it?

well yes,
I have been in business for other show cars and still am.I have called the filling station,I and I reproductions etc,and it seems to me that these guys are not interested in helping anyone get original mats from 1930-1935.So I posted here to let people know I make them.I stumbled across this site while browsing on the internet.I have been in business making these mats prior to this post and still am today.I am expensive and the feedback I get led me to make the decision to stop making the chev mats as the cost for to make them did not match the cost potential customers were willing to pay.I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause others.Until I can make these mats at a more affordable cost I will have to cease operation.

I had done some research on your company a couple of years ago & it's not just a replacement mat. It's a complete service including vulcanizing the mat to the board or backing. I have 2 cars to do in the future & I will be looking for your services. The glued on mats don't work so well when the temp get to 118 degrees......Joe

Holy crap thats hot weather.Anyways I have figured out a way to bring the costs of making my mats down in price for Chev owners by molding instead of handbuilding.I was charging 5-600 for a set of mats(handbuilt).I am able to mold new mats for the cost of 350-400/set.Its an extrusion method.Hope this helps guys.Been trying my best to get cost down.

We encourage your efforts as RB mats have been unavailable for some time. The price range is getting closer to what most guys will spend. Are your mats going to be laminated to the boards or glued? If glued do you do it or the customer? If extruded how will you deal with the ends. Some years the pattern does not extend all the way to the edges but has a flat border around the edges. '29-32 are an example.

Chipper,
Yes there are different lengths and sizes and rounded edges. This is what I do.Have a look at my website and you will see a sample of my chev mats and you will see that they are 100% correct, not just a piece of extruded rubber mat.The originals have borders etcd.So do Mine.
I hope this answers any of your questions. Please feel free to ask any more.

The 1934 Master has a chrome plated brass shell, the Standard had a painted steel. I assume that you have a Standard...???

I've been trying to reach this running board guy for a couple weeks to discuss purchase of a set of mats. I've sent email, I've called, and sent a private message via this website. Is he still alive?

I recently discovered this place that does the running boards.

He is literally within a half hour of my house so had hoped to go by sometime to see some of his work and meet him.

My running boards are real odd-balls. Picture 38 chevy metal bases with 38 Pontiac style rubber mats wrapped over them. I really don't want to ship them away so will try to deal locally...

If his work looks good, I could certainly help with shipping, communication, etc with this fellow.

I went by this address this week and he is no longer there but has moved.

I've had a few people contact me to try to find him since they have boards they wish to get restored.

If anyone hears from Jon, let me know.

Jon, drop us a line. You seem to offer a rare and needed service.

Thanks!

Well this got ugly and with the help of a local real estate/fireman/vintage Chevy guy, several sets of running boards were rescued and were being returned to the owners. Unfortunately it appears people were out deposits.

I'm still not sure what exactly happened but it doesn't look intentional, just simply some poor business practices and I obviously can't reccomend this person for boards/mats at this point in time.
