I am posting this for Dixie from N.Z. He posted a question about his problem on Spark Gap" and i replied there, then he sent me a PM and I didn't have the answer. I will post his messages here in hopes some of you will help:

We are currectly rebuilding a 28 chev and I can not get adjustment on clutch - it goes right to floorboards. The pressure plate retainers that hold pressure plate to the finger plate have been built up at some stage, and without this build up I get no adjustment at all in the clutch. The clutch fingers bottom out when presure plate is bolted in to fly wheel. Springs are standard and but am unsure on clutch plate..what should the thickness be with plate and lining

Hi MrMack,
no i d'not have a shop manual,i have the chevrolet repair manual for series AA-AB, but does not go into any dept
on the specs. of the clutch. I have the old time Chevy manual
of the web but there is not mutch info. about the clutch. The total thickness of the clutch plate i have is .318" and looks in not to bader condition. I'm wondering if the dics lining where floating and not riveted one, as i have. The plates that retain the pressure plate to the outer plate have been built up by .102".Hope you can throw some light over this problem. because when the
clutch is asembled the clutch finger just run out travel, with out the built up plates.Any help much APPRECIATED as not a lot of knowledge down this part of the would on chevys
Cheers
