I did a search but nothing came up. Anyway, what is the recommended valve clearance on a cold 1929 stationary engine. This would be the initial adjustment after a valve job just before starting the engine for the first time. Thanks

I would use the .006" intake and .008" exhaust same as a hot engine.....then reset them hot and running after a little running. They will gap out almost the same when everything is cold, then go thru a "noisy" period during warm-up and after everything is heated up level out again.

You've had the head off so I would suggest you re-torque the head after a few heat-up/cool-down cycles. This may affect your final valve clearances and adjustments.

Add .002 to the hot measurement and you should be very close to right on when the engine is warmed up. I've been doing this for 40 years on both flathead and overhead valve engines w/o a problem.
