The stated asking price might have scared off any potential buyers. The actual value might be what you asked if the engine was properly rebuilt and only a minor problem has it stuck or the entire engine assembly could be worth only scrap price.
No one I know of will pay more that a small fraction of the asking price for parts of unknown condition.

In my case I often purchase extra parts but need to consider condition and distance I need to travel to get them before making any deals.
